Washing Up Glove Giraffe Puppet

Standard

We are taking the boys to the zoo this weekend.  When we have discussed it, Master O has been most excited about seeing the giraffes.  So today we decided to make a giraffe puppet to play with.  We based it on something similar we saw on Playschool and made it with things that were lying around the house or in our craft supplies.

We used:

  • A yellow washing up glove
  • Brown acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush
  • 2 googly eyes
  • 1 yellow pipe cleaner
  • 2 yellow pom poms
  • Brown cardboard
  • Yellow cardboard
  • Glue
  • Sticky tape
  • Stapler
  • Scissors

After painting the giraffe’s pattern onto the washing up glove and letting it dry, we attached the 2 eyes with glue.  By cutting the pipe cleaner in two and attaching a pom pom to one end of each length with a stapler, we created the giraffe’s horns.  We attached these to the glove with tape.  Finally, we cut two large leaf-shaped ears from the yellow card and two smaller ears from the brown card.  After sticking the brown card to the inside of the yellow ear, we affixed these to the glove with tape.

I can’t say he looks beautiful but we had fun making it and the baby giggled and giggled as Master O put on a puppet show for him.

Have a wonderful weekend all.
